Update Your Powder Room For Under $1,000
Paint
Powder rooms are a great space to go bold! If you’re in love with a color, but are too afraid to make a commitment to it, this is a great room to try it out in. Powder rooms are usually quite small, so it’s less of an investment in both your time and money to change the color if you get tired of it. You can go bold, dark or keep the room light and bright. Either way, a fresh coat of paint always makes a huge difference! My go-to paint companies are Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore. We chose Sherwin-Williams Seaworthy (SW7620) for the above powder room. If you need help choosing the perfect color for your space, check out my color consult packages!
Wallpaper
Removable wallpaper is a great way to add a pop of pattern in your powder room! It’s cheaper than tile AND you can install it yourself. Keep in mind that removable wallpaper works best on walls with little to no texture. Always double check with the company or manufacturer before purchasing. Some retailers let you order swatches of the wallpaper to try in your space before you commit. One of my favorite places to purchase removable wallpaper from is Society6. I love Society6 because every purchase supports an independent artist and is made-to-order. They have pretty fast turnaround times, too! Here are some of my favorite wallpaper prints from Society6 at the moment:
Fixtures
Updating the fixtures in your bathroom can make a huge difference at a low cost. Think: faucets, towel rings, toilet paper holders, lighting fixtures and a new mirror. You can choose the same finish for all of the items or mix it up. I like to mix black or antiqued bronze finishes with gold. Here are some of my favorite mirrors, wall lights, and bathroom fixtures:

Art
If you opted to add wallpaper, choose artwork that complements it. For example, if you choose a wallpaper that has a small scale pattern or is very busy, choose artwork that has large brushstrokes or a lot of white background. Most of all, choose art that speaks to you or that has special meaning. My favorite places to purchase art prints are Society6 and Minted.
Accessories
Typically, powder rooms are small. So, choose functional accessories that pack a punch of style: hand towels, accent rug, soap dishes/pumps, wastebasket, storage items. If you have the room, add a small plant or floral.
Putting It All Together
I’ve put together a sample of the above options, so let’s add it up and see where we’re at. I’m going to calculate based on a 25 sq. ft. powder room with 8 foot high ceilings, and we’ll just cover one accent wall with the removable wallpaper. I’m also taking into account that we’re keeping the sink and/or vanity is currently in the space (remember: a little bit of paint goes a long way). Most of the time you can find these items on sale, but for the sake of this post, I’m calculating the cost with the retail prices (tax & shipping not included).
